I'd like to suggest a change for DWC along the line of this draft PR. It basically leverages the browser cache.
Testing here from the U.S. with a server in Europe saves about 1.5 seconds on subsequent rendering.
Not perfect yet (duplicate code), but a speed improvement that works.
